When THEBB02 dropped ‘Eyes Dey Red’ in 2022 under his Bigmanity Records label, it wasn’t just a track—it was a statement. Though based in Boston, USA, far from the day-to-day struggles in Nigeria, the Nigerian-American artist made it clear: distance doesn’t silence conscience. The song, a powerful blend of Afro-fusion, hip hop, and politically-charged lyrics, was reminiscent of Fela Kuti’s bold Afrobeat spirit—raw, vocal, and necessary.
In a nation gripped by insecurity, inequality, unemployment, and poverty, ‘Eyes Dey Red’ became his voice for the voiceless. It was born out of anger at injustice and compassion for his people—fueled by Christian values, charitable work, and strong ties to his roots.
“We cannot pretend that all is well with us as a nation,” he said in an interview.
“There’s suffering everywhere. Our leaders must confront what’s making our eyes red.”
Born Jesse Adesotu Woghiren, he hails from the revered Woghiren Obamedo royal household—a lineage where music was more than entertainment; it was identity. His mother was a well-known performer in the U.S., honored by the City of Boston and federal representatives. His father, Chief Omedo E.O. Woghiren, was a celebrated Karétà and Ekaba dancer. His grandfather, a descendant of King Obanosa of the Benin Kingdom, was a legendary performer and physician—setting a powerful tone for young Jesse to follow.
With this rich cultural inheritance, it’s no surprise music found him early. Back in Benin City, he and childhood friends like Eugene Agbaliko and Henry Nwaka formed The New Method, inspired by New Edition, writing songs and winning every local competition they entered.
Relocating to the U.S. in his late teens, THEBB02 carried the rhythm of Benin in his soul. He studied Music, Business Management, and Intellectual Property Law at Bunker Hill Community College and Northeastern University, equipping himself not just to perform—but to own, protect, and monetize his art.
Turning down multiple U.S. label deals due to unfavorable terms, he chose independence over compromise. That decision laid the foundation for what is now a flourishing global career.
He’s the founder of Bigmanity Records and the Collectives Imprint (THE BB02 & THE LEMLINES aka BIGMANITY ALL STARS), platforms created to scout and elevate new talent. Before that, he launched the U.S.-based Beyondspheres Records, whose legendary catalog has drawn attention from industry heavyweights like Lil Wayne and Betty Wright.
And through his work with the U.S. Library of Congress, THEBB02 is now among the Nigerian-American creatives with the most federally archived musical content—earning passive revenue from placements in films, Netflix, YouTube, and more.
THEBB02 isn’t here just to make music that moves feet—he’s here to move minds. Alongside ‘Eyes Dey Red’, his gospel-infused track ‘Kpor Kpor Kpor’ offered a soulful expression of gratitude and faith. His discography is broad, bold, and ever-growing, with fan favorites like:

Outside the studio, THEBB02 wears many hats. He is:
CEO of Bigmanity Investments Properties
Founder of BLOTRATFX, a U.S.-based fashion line now expanding into Nigeria
A philanthropist, social activist, and media personality
A consistent voice for empowerment, education, and ethical industry practices
His passion project? Helping the next generation of artists understand not just how to perform—but how to build. He dreams of opening a world-class entertainment academy focused on the business of music, mentorship, and creative equity.
“We must empower real talents—on both sides of the Atlantic—so they can compete, dollar for dollar, stream for stream, with anyone else in the world.”
True to his royal and cultural heritage, THEBB02 is planning something bigger—a festival of songs, drumming, and dance, steeped in African tradition yet presented with modern global flair.
“Our ancestors celebrated harvests with music to thank God. That’s part of who we are. Through this festival, I want to revive that tradition in a way that speaks to today’s world—while honoring the past.”
With each beat, each lyric, and every move he makes, THEBB02 is writing a legacy far beyond music. A legacy of influence, intention, and impact.
